How do grading credits work?

AI grading works on a credit system: 1 credit is consumed per paper graded on Examino.

AI grading on Examino works on a credit system, rather than an unlimited number of gradings.

The principle

Each paper graded by the AI consumes 1 credit. Whether the paper is graded using the grading-scale mode or competency-based assessment, the cost stays the same: 1 credit per paper.

Where your credits come from

Your credits are tied to your team. If you're part of a school account, credits are pooled across all teachers on the team: they come from a shared pool rather than separate individual accounts.

Tracking your usage

You can check your team's available credits at any time. Each grading run deducts the number of papers involved.

Good to know

Credits are consumed when grading is actually launched on a paper, not simply when importing or splitting it. Importing and splitting your papers therefore consumes no credits: only AI grading does.
