Data Retention Periods
Last updated: 7 July 2026
Our principle: your data belongs to you and remains under your control. The exam papers and results you import into or produce in Examino are retained for as long as you need them, and deleted when you decide.
Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
Exam papers, corrections and results | For as long as you keep them in your account: you delete them freely, at any time, paper by paper, exam by exam or in full. They are also deleted upon closure of your account. |
Your teacher content (exam subjects, grading scales) | For as long as your account is open - they belong to you. Deleted upon account closure. |
Account and billing data | For the duration of the account, then for the periods imposed by our legal obligations (accounting and tax). |
Technical and audit logs | 1 year. |
You stay in control
Deletion at any time: you can delete a paper, an exam or your account whenever you wish; deletion is real and permanent (files included), then propagated to backups as they go through their rotation cycle.
End of account: upon closure, your data is deleted or returned to you, at your choice, within 30 days.
No reuse: data is never retained "just in case", nor reused to train models.
Our recommendation
You are the one who knows the rules applicable to your assessments. As a guide: in secondary education, keep corrected papers for the duration of the school year and the appeal periods (about one year) before deleting them; in higher education and training organisations, certification regulations (RNCP, Qualiopi) may require you to be able to substantiate assessments over several years. A contested grade must be verifiable: do not delete too early; keeping data beyond what is necessary, however, has no justification.
